An Unfair War

"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?" - Mahatma Gandhi -

The State of the Beast

The Book of Genesis According to San Miguelito
by Miguel Pinero

Before the beginning,
God created God
In the beginning
God created the ghettos & slums
And God saw this was good.
So God said,
"Let there be more ghettos & slums"
and there were more ghettos & slums.
But God saw this was plain
so
to decorate it
God created lead-based paint
and then
God created the rivers of garbage & filth
to flow gracefully through the ghettos.
...On the fourth day
God was riding around Harlem in a gypsy cab
when he created the people
and he created these beings in ethnic proportion
but he saw the people lonely & hungry
and from his eminent rectum
he created a companion for these people
and he called this companion
capitalism,
who begat racism
who begat exploitation
who begat male chauvinism
who begat machismo
who begat imperialism
who begat colonialism
who begat wall street
who begat foreign wars
and God knew
and God saw
and God felt this was extra good
and God said
VAYAAAAA
...On the seventh day God was tired
So he called in sick
collected his overtime pay
a paid vacation included
But before God got on that t.w.a.
for the sunny beaches of Puerto Rico,
He noticed his main man Satan
planting the learning trees of consciousness
around his ghetto edens
So God called a news conference
on a state of the heavens address
on a coast to coast national t.v. hookup
and God told the people
to be
COOL
and the people were cool
and the people kept cool
and the people are cool
and the people stayed cool
and God said
Vaya...

With the quickening of the people's long dormant senses, comes the clarity that will bring their empowerment. We can no longer pretend we do not see the emperor's nakedness. It's ugliness stretches around the globe and no matter where we look, we can see it's grotesque head.

We dare not ever take our eyes from the beast or turn our backs on it again, else it hamstring and devour us. For it's hunger is insatiable and in it's bowels, greed is the acid which churns and dissolves the real people...the human beings!

And here is the last episode of Alex Jone's documentary.

Enslavement of the People

Why reclining, interrogating? why myself and all drowsing?
What deepening twilight-scum floating atop of the waters,
Who are they as bats and night-dogs askant in the capitol?
What a filthy Presidentiad! (O South, your torrid suns! O North, your arctic freezings!)
Are those really Congressmen? are those the great Judges? is that the President?
Then I will sleep awhile yet, for I see that these States sleep, for reasons;
(With gathering murk, with muttering thunder and lambent shoots we all duly awake,
South, North, East, West, inland and seaboard, we will surely awake....

To the States or any one of them, or any city of the States,
Resist much, obey little,
Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved,
Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city of this earth, ever after-ward resumes its liberty.
- Whitman -

As we awaken, we somehow find each other and are drawn together. Yet we can't fully explain why. We just know it's what has to happen. We can no longer ignore our responsibilities as human beings...as real people!

Out of our slumber, we begin to find our voice; we begin to teach each other; we begin to learn from one another. The community of the real people continues to grow. There is no resemblance to the familiar structures of which we are so accustomed. Our communities are undefinable by those who would enslave us. This undefinability; this unstructurelessness; this enlightenment of community; is impossible for the mongers to stop.

The real people are finding one another and sharing their stories. The people are re-writing history...no, actually they are making history!

The sight returns as the blindfolds are removed. The sound of truth resonates within our heads as the earplugs are discarded. Our sense of touch is more real than ever before in our memories. With the re-birth of our lucidity, our obligation to humanity and our world is awakened. It washes over us with such clarity, there is no ignoring it! Freedom is sweet and enslavement can no longer be tolerated! Yes, it's our watch...let's get it right!

Awakening, Incitement, Quickening

"Bloodletting"

by Saul Williams

the greatest americans
have not been born yet
they are waiting patiently
for the past to die...
that dummy that sits
on your lap
is no longer
a worthy spectacle
his shrunken pale face
leaves little room for imagination
we have spotted your moving lips
and pinned the voice to its proper source
it is a source of madness
a source of hunger for power
a source of weakness
a source of evil
we have exited your coliseum
and are surrounding your box office
demanding our families back
our language back
our rituals back
our gods back...

Now that we are no longer asleep and our internal alarms have successfully brought us out of our snooze button stupor...Is it possible we have awoken in the middle of a socially designed police state? Or possibly the early stages of a police state? Have we been lulled into our sleep by the illusion of democracy, enhanced by the power of terrorist nightmares?

It is important as we emerge from our sleep (awakening), that we search for the truth, splash some reality on our faces (incitement), and discover alternative views (quickening). We can no longer take anything at face value and we must remain vigilant. It is our watch, and we must take back our earth from those who have and will continue to do her harm! Humanity calls to us... no it pleads to us! The real people are earth's only chance!

This will be the beginning of a three part documentary by Alex Jones entitled Rise of the Police State.

America's Lifeblood

The news is in and even though they show a decline in Defense Department contracts, Vice President Dick Cheney’s former firm Halliburton Corporation reported a 51% increase in its second-quarter profits due to a rise in oilfield service revenue. Imagine that, the oil profits are jumping off the charts! According to a report released by a Californian congressman, the last five years of the Bush/Cheney energy policies have increased our dependency on oil.

Questions are still unanswered about the Cheney National Energy Policy Development Group and the NEPDG's mapping of Iraqi oil fields prior to the September 11th attack on the WTC.

Well, let's take a little closer look. Our anointed with oil elite, with the support of the current administration and government policies, seem to be doing well according to the market figures. The heart of america is the gas pump and it seems the life blood of the american dream is the color and consistency of crude. And the price to keep the mechanical heart of america beating and the machine greased is blood.

I wonder what the ratio of blood for oil actually is? Maybe one quart or perhaps one gallon of blood for a barrel of the stinking black gold. All I know is the price is way too high and there has been too much death and destruction in order to maintain profits for an elite few! It will only get worst I'm afraid and I see the cost increasing as we reach the end of the oil age.

Yes, we are reaching the end of the oil high that has been tumbling out of control for so long. The dream is almost over and it's the people of the earth who will have to take on the task of change. We can no longer rely on representatives and so-called leaders to get us out of this man-made catasrophe. They are too mired up in the stinking profit machine to ever hear our voice. It's up to the people to replace the mechanical heart of Uncle Sam with a real heart that relies on the blood of the people, not the oil of the elite!

I Had A Dream

Have you ever had a dream that was extremely captivating and maybe even tantalizing? A dream that made all of your senses soar to the optimum levels. A dream that felt so perfect and created in you such a feeling of intense ecstacy. Do you know the sort of dream I am referring to? You know, one of those dreams that makes you wish you could have remained incognizant of reality and remained in that dream state for a while longer.

And have you ever had such a perfect dream suddenly transform itself from a sensuous and seductive vision into an abhorrent and repulsive reality? We are awakening from the American Dream and with the death of this dream comes the povertization of the people.

Oh what a beautiful dream it was. But the fact is, the dream was never sustainable and we have misled ourselves into believing it was real. Oh, the beauty of the system of which we've allowed ourselves to participate! Wake up call! We have hit the snooze far too many times and we must wake up and put our feet on the floor!

I have awakened and I find it unfathomable what has happened to our world while I slept. I find it detestable that I have allowed my stupor to bolster such an unsustainable social disease as consumerism, which has degraded humanity and has aided in impoverishing millions! But my feet are on the floor now and the numbness from my dream state is gradually subsiding and the cobwebs in my head are fading as I return to the real world of the living.

Is it War?

Jon Stewart's comical wisdom on the Israeli/Lebanon WAR! Or is it just the Brink of War? Or it's just a precipice leading up to the brink of war? No, it's just frickin WAR!

Will the Real Terrorists Raise Your Hands!

WARNING! The following pictures are very graphic in nature but say much more than I ever could about the Israeli/Lebanon confrontation now taking place.

Every war I have witnessed in my lifetime has involved the suffering and destruction of innocent people while the war-mongers who instigate and promote this violence sit safely within their compounds and bunkers.

It is always the people who pay for these wars. The people are always the pawns in the social/political battles waged by the elite few who desire power at anybody's costs.

Let's hope our world will wake up and see this for what it is! It is the people who have the power to change these atrocities. It is the real people who can see beyond the spin of the power mongers and their thirst for total power over the entire planet.

Community or Come-ye-into-unity

Taking our oral histories and re-producing our stories into written texts shared with the community is our task. It is our social obligation to humanity to build communities which have higher principles and are sincere about helping the common people. A task which normally doesn't benefit any of us monetarily and which (currently) isn't covered by any collective bargaining agreement. But this task offers self-satisfaction and social rewards nevertheless. The rewards within our communities fall way outside the current corporate approved/disapproved social stratification norms.

The mongers within the corporate model just can't fathom the idea of a power shift which pools power within the people's hands through the growth of communities. It's beyond their grasp due to their severe handicap of close-mindedness. But we are teaching each other and sharing our knowledge and experience within our communities of interest.

These rewards will benefit our communities in the form of power and will continue to add to the growth, adaptability, and sustainability of the community. Once the people accept the task as a necessary part of their lives, a transformation takes place. In the beginning, it very much feels like a task, but as time melts away, so also does the feeling that contributing to the community is a chore. Contributing becomes the flame of activism and to some the very reason for existence!

Our task is to tell our stories of history from each of our unique perspectives. And once we take on this task, and participate in this sharing and community building, we are in essence, creating what we have been taught couldn't exist! We are venturing into the radical world of cooperative learning.

In the past, social power structures have compiled selected stories from a few select individuals in order to steer the direction of the masses. History has been used as a social tool forever and it will continue to be a powerful weapon in social change. The interweb offers us an opportunity to slow the elite's momentum. By breaking away from what we have been taught to be socially accepted norms, we travel to a place where it's okay to question authority and the injustices which surround these authoritative structures. In our communities, we can be equal but remain unique as individuals. And along with this shift of power into the people's hands, comes the opportunity to re-write history and do what we have been taught was impossible. We can maintain diversity while simultaneously weaving a sustainable world from fibers of justice, equality, and cooperation.

The very idea of a global village has been impossible throughout history. We have been divided by race, religion, regions, borders, and continents ever since our earliest ancestors were evolving into very simple basic social structures. Now the people of the earth have an opportunity to tear down the fences which have been maintained by restricting the vital flow of information. Let's just say that we are the social brain of civilization and by restricting the sharing of our stories, the powerful few have successfully restricted the blood flow to our gray matter. The life-blood of our cooperative mind is the free flow of information. This new unleashed current of knowledge is awakening our collective minds and we are just beginning to feel the power which comes from this flow!

Along with the responsiblilties associated with sharing our stories comes a greater responsibility. We have to be always vigil, and by any means, ensure this growing power of knowledge isn't gathered up and corralled by the world's totalitarians. If the elite few are allowed to harness, manipulate, and control the people's ability to communicate openly, I fear there is no hope for civilization! It is our watch people! We must get it right! This is our story!

According to wikipedia, in order for people to connect and be members of a community, there are four elements which must exist in order to realize a sense of community. There have also been five pillars recognized as the main supports of communities of practice.

Of course this shift in power into our communities is new to all of us and we continually struggle to define what we are and how we perceive our goals and the community's structure or even structurelessness! The constant growth and quickly changing information world can seem overwhelming to most of us. Even the wikipedia community continues to grasp for an understanding of who they (we) are! Daunting and sometimes confusing tasks no doubt, but very necessary for our sustainability and the future of civilization.

We're blazing trails into the informational wilderness. We're sailing the seas of unbridled knowledge. It is an exciting time for sure and if we attempt to map the dangers on these uncharted trails and seas, perhaps we can begin to construct a strategy for a living r-evolution. A r-evolution which would remove the inept power holders who are inable/unwilling to deal with the ecological crises we are witnessing here on earth. The same power mongers who fail to address the poverty, injustice, and inequality throughout the world. The elite who favor domination over true freedom and democracy.

It's time for the people to construct a sustainable society and supply new definitions to the words freedom and democracy. I say again friends, brothers, sisters, and family: "It's our watch!"

First appeared on uncharted.

A New Declaration of Independence

This work was written by Emma Goldman and published in Mother Earth, Vol. IV, no. 5, July 1909.

When, in the course of human development, existing institutions prove inadequate to the needs of man, when they serve merely to enslave, rob, and oppress mankind, the people have the eternal right to rebel against, and overthrow, these institutions.

The mere fact that these forces--inimical to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness--are legalized by statute laws, sanctified by divine rights, and enforced by political power, in no way justifies their continued existence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all human beings, irrespective of race, color, or sex, are born with the equal right to share at the table of life; that to secure this right, there must be established among men economic, social, and political freedom; we hold further that government exists but to maintain special privilege and property rights; that it coerces man into submission and therefore robs him of dignity, self-respect, and life.

The history of the American kings of capital and authority is the history of repeated crimes, injustice, oppression, outrage, and abuse, all aiming at the suppression of individual liberties and the exploitation of the people. A vast country, rich enough to supply all her children with all possible comforts, and insure well-being to all, is in the hands of a few, while the nameless millions are at the mercy of ruthless wealth gatherers, unscrupulous lawmakers, and corrupt politicians. Sturdy sons of America are forced to tramp the country in a fruitless search for bread, and many of her daughters are driven into the street, while thousands of tender children are daily sacrificed on the altar of Mammon. The reign of these kings is holding mankind in slavery, perpetuating poverty and disease, maintaining crime and corruption; it is fettering the spirit of liberty, throttling the voice of justice, and degrading and oppressing humanity. It is engaged in continual war and slaughter, devastating the country and destroying the best and finest qualities of man; it nurtures superstition and ignorance, sows prejudice and strife, and turns the human family into a camp of Ishmaelites.

We, therefore, the liberty-loving men and women, realizing the great injustice and brutality of this state of affairs, earnestly and boldly do hereby declare, That each and every individual is and ought to be free to own himself and to enjoy the full fruit of his labor; that man is absolved from all allegiance to the kings of authority and capital; that he has, by the very fact of his being, free access to the land and all means of production, and entire liberty of disposing of the fruits of his efforts; that each and every individual has the unquestionable and unabridgeable right of free and voluntary association with other equally sovereign individuals for economic, political, social, and all other purposes, and that to achieve this end man must emancipate himself from the sacredness of property, the respect for man-made law, the fear of the Church, the cowardice of public opinion, the stupid arrogance of national, racial, religious, and sex superiority, and from the narrow puritanical conception of human life. And for the support of this Declaration, and with a firm reliance on the harmonious blending of man's social and individual tendencies, the lovers of liberty joyfully consecrate their uncompromising devotion, their energy and intelligence, their solidarity and their lives.

Note: This `Declaration' was written at the request of a certain newspaper, which subsequently refused to publish it, though the article was already in composition.

"Let Freedumb Ring"

Just another holiday down here in the lower 48 and the sounds of celebration have now subsided somewhat. However I understand our Department of Defense is planning their own special fireworks display which will make all the others seem tame and insignificant. Maybe we should just put away the flags long enough to take a close look at what our nation is describing as freedom.

Who knows, maybe one day this holiday will be renamed Expansion Day. It just seems to better portray the direction our nation has taken through the years since the other totalitarian's asses were kicked and independence from England was proclaimed.

Times like this we should reflect on our history and the lessons it teaches. What did the slaves think about Independence Day? In the words of Frederick Douglas from his Independence Day Speech.
What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass-fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy-a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States at this very hour.

What did the original inhabitants of this land think about Independence Day? Well, from the beginning, it didn't matter whose side the tribes supported during the Revolutionary War. They were doomed to suffer near extinction from either side! Both were filled with insatiable wants and expansion was their God given right!

And I wonder what our immigrants think of Independence Day? Hell, I bet they're out in the streets celebrating the freedom that comes from independence. And they're probably wishing the construction of the border fences and walls would begin so some jobs would open up and they could buy some groceries. Yeah, I can hear them singing praises now...can you hear them? I can just hear the last stanza: "Let Freedom Ring"!

Let's look at this holiday in reflection and not forget the past national atrocities, and let us keep a constant vigil so we don't suffer future atrocities to the people of this earth!

Independence and Dependency

Well the noose continues to tighten around the citizens as we continue to be herded into managable groups by an elite few. Poverty is always just around the corner, and absolutely nobody is immune to it's hardships. By maintaining there hierarchial monument, the riches of all our nations continue to pool in the upper quadrants of the bizamid! Now because they're so passionate about our safety, they want to be our bankers also!

But there is more news on the economical front that might keep us busy long enough that we'll finally accept the vioilations of human rights and civil rights. Although high profits have been recorded by U.S. employers, the people's wages have stalled. Yeah, if they can keep us busy struggling to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, I think they can accomplish what many world nations have failed to accomplish. The destruction of the "United States". By concentrating the wealth and power in the hands of so few, we create a recipe for disaster. We will destroy ourselves!
