Well, the administrative idiocy continues as Bush ignores the Senate, UMW, AFL-CIO, and the families of the victims of the Sago Mine Disaster and appoints Richard Stickler as the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health. Stickler has spent the majority of his career as a coal industry executive focuesed on profits...not safety. He is known for making concessions and granting exceptions from safety rules for certain mining companies. He was also in charge when the Quecreek Mine Disaster took place and he believes our current mine safety laws are adequate even though we've lost eighteen miners this year!
